Abhanga Tukaram is a soulful Marathi film that delves into the life and literature of the 17th-century saint and poet, Sant Tukaram. Directed by Digpal Lanjekar, the film features Yogesh Soman in the titular role of Sant Tukaram, with Smita Shewale portraying his wife, Avali. The story focuses on a significant episode from Sant Tukaram's life when religious custodians ordered that his Abhanga Gatha be drowned in the Indrayani River. Tukaram calmly accepted the challenge and submerged his writings in the waters, symbolizing his unwavering faith and commitment to his beliefs.
