"Aranmanai 4" is a Tamil-language horror comedy film directed by Sundar C. The fourth installment of the Aranmanai series features Sundar C, Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Santhosh Prathap, and Ramachandra Raju.
The tale unfolds in Assam, where a priest unwittingly unleashes "Baak", a shape-shifting demon. In an attempt to contain its energy, he imprisons Baak's soul within a container that causes it to take human form. Subsequently, years pass in a village, where "Selvi" and "Santhosh" live contentedly with their kids. Disaster strikes, however, when Santhosh dies under mysterious circumstances, and Selvi is found hanging by a well. Their daughter, “Sakthi”, goes into a coma after the visit from her mother's ghost.
After the arrival of Selvi’s brother, “Saravanan”, to help with the children, he realizes something is not quite right. He partners with “Maaya”, a doctor, to examine deaths related to his family. His search leads him to a swami, who reveals that Baak has returned and is targeting Sakthi, along with others who share a special birthmark. Selvi’s spirit has been protecting her children from the demon’s grasp.
While Saravanan and Maaya fight against time, Baak manipulates things by playing the role of various individuals to shatter their defenses. The demon finally kills the swami and is about to accomplish its mission. But at one such dramatic temple festival, Saravanan faces Baak within a giant Asura sculpture. A divine energy steps in and kills Baak and the sculpture as well, putting an end to all the horrors.
“Aranmanai 4" is a mix of horror and comedy with lavish visuals and supernatural themes. Sundar C presents an entertaining story with suspenseful turns and light-hearted comedy. Although certain plot points seem predictable, the movie keeps the audience entertained with its spooky environment and action-packed ending.
