Baashha is a Suresh Krissna action gangster film in Tamil released in 1995. It starred Rajinikanth, Nagma and Raghuvaran. The movie follows Manickam, a nonviolent rickshaw driver who avoids conflict and simply goes about his day. When his brother, a police officer, gets into hot water with a gang, a series of events propel Manickam to reckon with his past and bring out a person he had buried deep for a long time.

Manikam is an auto rickshaw driver in Madras, sending money home to his mother, brother and sisters. He gets his sister Kavitha married well and gets Geetha a medical college seat by blackmailing a corrupt chairman. Priya, a passenger in Manikam’s auto, soon falls in love with him, but he first baulks because her father is a criminal. Eventually, he accepts her love.

When Manikam’s brother Shiva is pursued by a gangster, Indiran, Manikam is forced to intervene to save Shiva’s life, resulting in a violent beating. When Indiran eventually kidnaps Geetha, Manikam takes action and rescues her, showcasing his concealed history as a mafia lord in Bombay. While faking his death and coming back to Madras, Manikam faces threats from previous enemies, such as Kesavan and Antony, on his way. During an intense climax, Manikam saves his family, and Shiva shoots Antony, so Manikam and Priya can marry.

As an action drama, Baashha is a complicated story tightly woven with sizzling emotion and epic spectacle. Its gut-wrenching dialogues, unforgettable music, and outstanding character transformations have made it an evergreen cult classic in Tamil cinema. The film’s verve, flair, and pathos resonate vibrantly with viewers, as it is less a world-weary action picture than a thunderous, mellifluous, sublime experience that has continued to enthral fans long after its release.
