Bunty Aur Babli a 2005 crime comedy film is directed by Shaad Ali starring Amitabh Bachchan featuring in a guest appearance while Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherji are in the lead roles. This film was one of the greatest hits of that year with some catchy songs that became popular.
A story about Rakesh Trivedi(Abhishek Bachchan) , an ambitious villager from a small village called Fursatganj. His father is a ticket collector who wants his son to join his profession but Rakesh has aspired for bigger dreams and he leaves the home in search of his goal. Both of them while sneaking out of their respective homes on one dark night bump into each other at the railway station and become friends. Realising their stories are the similar to achive their dreams they support each other and try to pursue their goals but it is not easy and they realise they have to fend for themselves now having run away from their respective homes, they take to conning people , cheating them in different guise and thus raise money to make it big in Mumbai. They adopt the new names Bunty and Babli and successfully looting people with their flamboyant antics that make them famous.Soon their friendship blossoms into love and they decide to get married and continue their conning the rich.
Unaware that JCP Dashrath Singh(Amitabh Bachchan) is following up on them closely for their cons and pranks and he relentlessly follows them with a hope of putting them behind bars. He finally nabs them only to find them with a child. The couple by then have decided to quit their unethical profession for the sake of their child and decide to leave the city and return to their village with their child to start a decent normal life but they get nabbed by JCP Dashrath. While in custody hearing their confession , the hardcore cop JCP’s heart is melted and he lets them go . He clearly destroys their career as criminals and three years later offers them a job.
Amitabh Bachchan has a small role in the film but a powerful one and his one song ‘ Karja Re’ along with Abhishek Bachchan and Aiswarya Rai was a super hit on the highest grossing top charts.
