Karan, played by Zain Khan is a 13 year old orphan boy who aspires to be a big cricketer some day. He also wishes he had loving parents like most kids do. His love for cricket started when he started hearing incredible stories of Kapil Dev and his 1983 World Cup win, told to him by the orphanage caretaker Bholu dada. His closest friend is Daboo, who understands and listens to his dreams and aspirations.
One day Karan finds an old cricket bat and somehow thinks it belonged to Kapil Dev. He assumes the bat to be a magical one. He surprisingly gets spotted by the Indian cricket team coach while playing cricket and is impressed by his batting skills. Just when the team was going through a low phase, Karan walks in and helps the team win the match. He becomes an overnight success. He develops a close bond with the captain Varun, played by Rahul Bose. One day the orphanage bully Rahul destroys Karan’s magic bat in envy. However, Karan assures Varun that the bat was just ordinary, the real magic was within him and they win the match.
Varun then marries his girlfriend Malini, played by Meera Vasudevan and they decide to adopt Karan as their child. The movie is directed by Karanjeet Saluja and produced by Sweta Agnihotri, Ken Ghosh, Shashikant Khamkar and Namrata Rungta. The music is composed by Salim-Sulaiman and Sandeep Shirodhakar.
