Vineet’s career began at the age of 21 with the film Pitaah in 2002. He was a part of the 2010 film City of Gold but he got recognition for his role in the films like Bombay Talkies and Gangs of Wasseypur. People would remember him for his role in Ugly and in the character of Milan Shukla in the film Daas. He won a lot of appreciation for his film Dev. However, he made his debut as the lead actor in the 2018 film Mukkabaaz by Anurag Kashyap for which, Vineet won two awards.
Vineet though he was in the medical field and a qualified Doctor, came to Mumbai to participate in Superstars Talent Hunt as he had set his heart to become an actor. After he had won the competition, actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar, who was one of the judges at the talent show, offered him a role in Sanjay Dutt starrer Pitaah. The film had not done well and Vineet had trouble in getting significant roles in films. He then worked for Mahesh Manjrekar Films as his associate and assistant director for films like the 2005 Viruddh and Deh in 2007. But after these two films Vineet had left film direction to focus on his acting. He did a couple of Bhojpuri serials like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Isaaq but the characters he played in these were insignificant. His role in Ugly got him his first nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Vineet Kumar Singh has also appeared in advertisements and commercials like Birla Sunlife and 7 up Nimbooz. The actor was seen in the 2016 film Bollywood Diaries opposite Raima Sen. The film was directed by K.D.Satyam. In Mukkabaaz released in 2018, he had the role of a boxer. Vineet had worked hard for 2 years before he did this film as he had to prepare himself for the role of protagonist in Anuraag Kashyap’s film. In Daas Dev film directed by Sudhir Mishra, Vineet won a lot of appreciation for his role and he appeared In Akshay Kumar’s film Gold in 2018. Vineet Singh was signed as the main lead in the film Aadhaar directed by Suman Ghosh, a film produced by Manish Mundra and Drishyam Films.
Vineet Singh in 2019 did a supporting role in Saand Ki Aankh. He acted in the film Gunjan Saxena, the Janhvi Kapoor starrer, a biopic that was released in 2020. He will next be seen in the Hindi remake of the film Tamil film Thiruttu Payale 2 opposite Urvashi Rautela.
He has many awards such as the Critics Choice Film Awards 2019 for Best Actor for his role in Mukkabaaz. He was also nominated for the Critics Best Actor Award at the 654th Filmfare Awards for the film.
