Set in 1930’s in the British Colonial India, Surya Sen, played by Manoj Bajpayee is protesting the killing of activist Jatin Das. Jhunku, played by Delzad Hiwale is Surya’s big follower but his dad doesn’t allow him to join in the protest and instead asks him to complete his education in England. Jhunku also has faith in magistrate Wilkinson who is against torture and injustice. However, inspector Johnson arrests Surya and tortures him.

 

Meanwhile the students play a prank on Johnson and spill oil under his bike that causes him to fall and get injured. He gets the truth out of Jhunku and later the officer in rage shoots one of the students involved called Sukhen. The group disowns Jhunku but he swears revenge for the murder of his friend. Later Johnson is made the DIG of police which infuriates Jhunku even more and he decides to join the army of Surya.  

 

The army captures and takes away the arms and ammunition, but fail to locate the machine guns. They cut off all modes of communication and thus capture the town of Chittagong for a day. Soon they leave the town for Jalalabad hills but the British army catches up with machine guns and one of Jhunku’s friend is killed. Later Jhunku is arrested and given the life sentence while another commits suicide by swallowing cynide. Jhunku is released after many years and re-joins the uprising and thus marks the end of the British Raj in India.

 

The movie is written, directed and produced by Bedabrata Pain. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
