Rohit, played by Hrithik Roshan and his brother Amit are orphans who live with their uncle and aunt. Rohit loves singing and is looking for a big break. Rohit then meets Sonia, the daughter of a wealthy industrialist, Saxena. Her father along with a few other his associates run a drug smuggling business unknown to Sonia. Soon Rohit and Sonia meet several times and get familiar. One day during Sonia’s birthday party, she gets drunk and ends up on a life boat with Rohit on a deserted island. They both share sweet memories together and fall deeply in love. Eventually after a few days, her father reaches them with a helicopter and takes her back.
When Rohit comes to know about the drug dealings he is brutally murdered by Sonia’s father and his associates. Sonia is devastated and loses all hope in life. She becomes lifeless and forgets to even smile. Her father is unable to see her plight and sends her to New Zealand to stay with her uncle. There she meets a boy named Raj who looks exactly like Rohit and she is stunned. She then follows him everywhere to find out if he is truly Rohit. But Raj is besotted by her and falls in love with her. Soon they try to find out Rohit’s killers. She is shocked to learn that her father was one of the killers. She then confesses her love to Raj.
