Badki, played by Rani Mukerji and Chutki, played by Konkana Sen Sharma are sisters living their parents in Banaras. Their family is going through financial trouble and to make matters worse, their father, played by Anupam Kher falls ill. Badki decides to go to Mumbai to find a job while Chutki completes her education in Banaras. A few days earlier a film crew had come to shoot at their palatial home and she gets the number of the assistant director. Thus when in Mumbai she contacts her and lives with her for a few days till she gets a secure employment and a place of her own.
Every place Badki goes she is rejected due to not being educated and not knowing computers. She is then recommended by a friend to apply to a call center. The manager is a ruthless womanizer, he asks Badki to sleep with him in order to get the job. She is shocked and initially refuses but later agrees. He sleeps with her however doesn’t give her the job saying she is illiterate and gives her money instead. This humiliates her and she becomes a high class escort seeing no other option. She starts to earn a lot of money and sends back home as well. Her parents are surprised that she is earning so much but she doesn’t tell them what she does for a living, saying that she a good job at an office.
However, one day when Chutki gives her a surprise visit in Mumbai, she is shocked to learn that her sister is an escort and has changed her name to Natasha. She begs her to leave everything and come back home. They return to Banaras for Chutki’s wedding to Vivaan and learns that the boy she once loved is his brother Rohan. He however accepts Badki despite her previous profession and marries her. The movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Shantanu Moitra.
