"Malikappuram" is an action-adventure drama directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar and written by Abhilash Pillai, released in 2022, starring Unni Mukundan, Deva Nandha, and Sreepath, while Kavya Film Company and Aan Mega Media produce the movie.
The film tracks "Kalyani," or "Kallu" (Deva Nandha) as she is commonly referred to, an eight-year-old girl who is a zealous believer of Lord Ayyappan. Her most desired goal is to see the Sabarimala Temple, something she desires more earnestly as she has only two years left when she will pass the age of girls being able to visit. When her father Ajayan meets with financial difficulty and ends up taking his life, Kallu's world is turned on its head. Even in tragedy, her will to go to Sabarimala intensifies.
Kallu escapes from home with her friend "Piyush," (Sreepath) and the two girls start their journey by themselves. While traveling in the bus, they meet "Mahi," a criminal man who is pretending to be their caretaker, with evil intentions. Ayyappan appears just in time in their life. He realizes that something is fishy with Mahi and assures the kids of their safety. While dangers increase along the way, Ayyappan battles Mahi and his guys in the woods, assisting Kallu in her devout destination.
In a magical moment, Kallu sees Ayyappan as the divine figure she always dreamed of. He vanishes in the crowd after fulfilling her wish, leaving her to wonder if he was truly the deity. It is later revealed that Ayyappan is actually “CPO D. Ayyappadas,” (Unni Mukundan) a police officer who takes it upon himself to protect the children and help them complete their pilgrimage.
"Malikappuram" mixes worship, action, and feeling and is therefore a must-see movie. Strong performances and true-to-the-heart storytelling make it the most wonderful movie to view for both spiritual and family viewers.
