Ajay Singh Rathod, played by Aamir Khan is a brave an honest police officer. He became an officer leaving his medical after his brother gets killed. He joins the Mumbai crime branch and makes sure that law and order are maintained in the city. Meanwhile Ajay learns of cross border terrorism that is being mushrooming in the city and starts investigating the root cause of the problem. Later he meets Pakistani gazal singer Gulfam and tells him what a huge fan he is. He even gives him a recording of his old gazals. Soon he joins the pieces of the crime puzzle together and is shocked to learn that Gulfam is involved in terrorist activities.
The movie is directed and produced by John Matthew Matthan. The music is composed by Jatin Lalit and the lyrics are written by Nida Fazli, Sameer, Indeevar and Israr Ansari. The cinematography is done by Sunil Patel, Kishan Malhotra, Madhav Sudesh Pange and the choreography is by Ahmed Khan, Farah Khan, Raju Khan. The star cast includes Sonali Bendre, Dinesh Kaushik, Mukesh Rishi, Pradeep Rawat, Govind Namdeo, Akhilendra Mishra, Gupta, Makrand Deshpande, Rajesh Joshi, Manoj Joshi, Vallabh Vyas, Ahmed Khan, Ali Khan, Anil Upadhyaya, Smita Jaykar and Upasana Singh.
