“Thatrom Thookrom” (2020) is a Tamil action movie directed and produced by Arul S under the Media Marshal banner. The film features Teejay Arunasalam, Cheenu Mohan, Kaali Venkat, Fouziee, and Sampath Ram. Based in the busy streets of Chennai, the plot revolves around three orphaned boys who, in spite of their struggles, aspire to become wealthy and leave behind their poverty-stricken lives. In their pursuit of wealth, they encounter a ruthless, cunning politician who at first seems to promise them a brighter tomorrow.

But as they get drawn into his circle, they are faced with the ugly truth of power, lies, and manipulation. Far from a brighter tomorrow, they find themselves mired in a deadly trap. While the three are fighting to escape, they decide to risk everything: rob the politician himself and escape with a large sum of money. They successfully execute the robbery and make a flight.But their ordeal is only beginning: the angry legislator instructs his goons to pursue them. The boys will now have to apply all their street sense and guts to weather the manhunt for death.

Along the way to their action-packed adventure, they witness betrayals, life-and-death fights, and difficult moral dilemmas. They are brought to the brink of breaking their indestructible bonds when confronted with the fact that freedom comes at a price and survival is not a hope but needs courage, sacrifices, and guts. Whether they win or lose in outsmarting their stronger adversary concludes the tale.

“Thatrom Thookrom” is a raw, energetic action drama that presents the seedy side of ambition and survival. With powerful performances by the lead trio and a gritty depiction of street life, the movie gets the risks of pursuing instant wealth right.
