In the interiors of Chhattisgarh, there is a dark and eerie custom that’s followed by few women folk called the ‘Tonhi’. They are called the black magic women of the village, who brutally murder people and no one can find any fault in it. The age old practice of Tonhi or black magic is still very much prevalent in many rural parts of India even though it has been banned by the state government.
The story of The Dark Secrets of Tonhi documents real life incidents that have been recorded in villages and interiors of Chhattisgarh. Especially since the director of the movie belongs to that state, he is aware of the evil ritual and has encountered it first hand. He has done significant research on the subject before putting all the actual incidents on the screen for viewers to see the brutality of it all.
The movie is directed by Shiraz Henry and produced by Rebecca Changkija and Ajay Najat. The star cast includes J Brandon Hill, Natasha Sikka, Alex Peters and Smitha Siah. The music is composed by Abuzar Rizvi and the screenplay and dialogues are written by Abuzar Rizvi.
