Raju is a habitual liar. He enjoys playing pranks on his village people by lying and fooling everyone around. One day a fire breaks out during a function and his own father gets severely burnt. He runs to get help from villagers and doctors but no one believes him and thinks it is just another of his pranks. This results in his father dying due to lack of treatment. Having no where to go, Raju then stays with his married sister but gets treated very badly and gets only leftover rotten food to eat. Everything bad happening in her house is blamed on Raju as he is considered to be unlucky. When her husband loses his job they all blame Raju and his sister finally asks him to leave the house. One day Raju runs into the wealthy Mr. Rai who is about to win a jackpot. After winning he considers Raju his lucky mascot and adopts him. The childless Mr. Rai also becomes a father for the first time when his wife gives birth to a baby brother. Sadly it turns out that Raju now has cancer and dies in his new
parent’s arms. The film is directed by Dasari Narayana Rao and produced by R C Prakash. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Sanjeev Kumar, Kamal Hasan, Poonam Dhillon, Sujit Kumar, Rajemdranath, Bhagwan, Raza Murad, Tanuja, Jamuna and Purnima.
