NCW had earlier issued summons to actors Nora Fatehi , Sanjay Dutt, Raqueeb Alam and producer Venkat K. Narayana and the director of the film, Kiran Kumar after the reports allegedly on obscenity and vulgarity in the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ was released.
According to the statement issued by NCW, the commission stated that the song suggests objectionable and sexual lyrics that leads to the violation of provision under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences ( POCSO) Act.
The Union Government also confirmed the song , ‘Sarke Chunari’ has been banned following a widespread criticism over its provocative lyrics and visuals. The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the decision was taken at the Lok Sabha while responding to a question raised by the Samaj Wadi Party MP Anand Bhaouria.
The controversy
The controversy stemmed from the release of the song featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. The track contained vulgar lyrics and objectionable visuals of women. The backlash quickly had escalated with several organizations escalated the matter, calling for action against the creators of the song track.
Complaints were filed demanding an FIR be lodged and removal of the track from circulating in social media or public which raised a debate just days after the matter came up in the Parliament.
