The Lakadbaggha 2, the franchise is boldly ready to embrace the global cinematic trend where iconic characters are going through re-casting. Much like the James Bond or the Spider Man, the new phase is for the Indian cinematic universe.  The sequel had wrapped its shoot in June 2025 and sequel; a part of India’s first animal lover vigilante universe is scheduled for its release in mid-2026.


Lakadbaggha 2 promises to be darker, sharper and more action driven narrative and with Adil Hussain of the Life of Pi fame as he steps into his role, has subsequently enhanced the sequel with the sensei character emerging as the crucial force in the narrative of the protagonist’s journey in the film. 


The film is positioned as the martial arts action spectacle.


As the film boasts a powerful international line up featuring the action icons such as Sunny Pang of Headshot and Havoc, Dan Chupong of Ong-Bak, the Indian star cast includes Vikram Kochhar, Anshuman Jha, Sarah Jane DiasAnshuman Jha will reprise the role as Arjun Bakshi the ordinary man who transformed in to the animal-loving vigilante. 


Adil Hussain, sharing his thoughts on joining the franchise said, after watching Lakadbaggha , it was deeply inspiring and he felt someone was finally making a film that stood for the animal rights which the viewers haven’t truly seen in decades. The martial arts training required for the script was demanding but Anshuman Jha was incredibly supportive all along and he concluded by saying he was grateful for being a part of this meaningful franchise.


It is expected to further strengthen and expands the mythology, of the Lakadbaggha comic book universe which was launched last year and it will continue to grow alongside the films franchise with its ambitious project to build a multi format of Indian action universe that will be of global appeal.  Blending with the high-octane action and the animal welfare, Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business will mark the next bold chapter in redefining the vigilante cinema in India.
