Shahid Kapoor's new movie Deva has been doing okay at the box office since it released on January 31. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, it’s a remake of his Malayalam film Mumbai Police. In Deva, Shahid Kapoor plays a tough police officer who uncovers lies and betrayal while working on a big case.
On Day 3, the film made ₹3.39 crore at the domestic box office, bringing its total to ₹15.29 crore by Sunday afternoon. On Day 2, the movie made ₹6.4 crore, which was a 16% increase from Day 1.
Even though the movie is doing decently, it’s facing tough competition from Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which was released the week before. Sky Force made ₹3.25 crore by 4:40 PM on February 2. Deva has been doing well, especially in Chennai, where it had the highest Hindi audience. Other cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata are also contributing to its earnings.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh mentioned on X that Deva saw a small growth of 14.36% on Day 2, but it still didn’t have the big jump in numbers that was needed after a slower start. The film is hoping to do better over the weekend.
The movie’s opening day collections were ₹5.5 crore. By the end of Day 2, Deva had earned ₹20.35 crore worldwide, with ₹6.40 crore from overseas markets and ₹11.90 crore from India.
The film also stars Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati alongside Shahid Kapoor. Fans are curious to see how the movie continues to perform over the weekend as it keeps unfolding in theaters.
