Bollywood’s much-anticipated film Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, is facing trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its portrayal of caste discrimination. The film, which explores deep-rooted social issues, has come under scrutiny, leading to a possible delay in its release.

Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, along with Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 takes inspiration from the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Unlike its predecessor, Dhadak (2018), which was based on Sairat, this sequel delves into caste-based struggles and social injustice, which has reportedly raised concerns with the CBFC

The film follows Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Vidhi (Triptii Dimri), a couple fighting against societal norms due to their caste differences. The movie’s visuals include bold slogans like “Educate, agitate, organize”, emphasizing the struggle for equality. However, due to its strong social messaging, the CBFC is reviewing certain scenes and dialogues before granting certification

With uncertainty over its release, fans are eagerly waiting for updates on whether the film will be allowed to release without major cuts. Dhadak 2 was set to be a bold take on romance intertwined with social issues, but its future now depends on the final decision from the censor board.
