After weeks of speculation, the filmmaker Sudhir Mishra confirmed the plan is now confirmed with Manoj Bajpayee essaying the role of Mahatma Gandhi and the filming is expected to begin around September this year. 

Known for choosing complex and emotionally layered roles, Manoj Bajpayee stepping in as Gandhi is one of his major cinematic moments.   The buzz is that the movie is expected to explore the key chapters in Mahatma Gandhi’s life. It will also focus more in his inner world , rather than his larger-than-life vision. 

The Pre-production is already underway and while the other cast in the movie is still under wraps, the power actor director collaboration is a lot to look forward to . The project is expected to set off from Kolkata and is garnering a lot of speculation.

Manoj Bajpayee currently came  into headlines for his film Ghooskhor Pandat  which was to be released on Netflix, ran into controversy with the title of the film with the Netizens. Director Neeraj Pandey faced intense backlash and legal action due to its title as they alleged it targeted the Brahmin community . With a conscious decision to rename the title and make a few changes in the film, while all the promotional materials also pulled down, the film is once again in the planning stage for its release.
