Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has scripted a full circle with his career in films, as he plans to release a memoir alongside of his 100th directorial venture. The film will reunite him with actor Mohanlal with whom the he had made his first movie with. The untitled autobiography is slated for its release in 2027, a milestone film that will mark four decades of his journey in cinema.
Priyadarshan has been working back-to-back films and has steadily been working on his memoirs. In 2025 he had wrapped up Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan which was his 97th film with Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. Priyadarshan’s 98th film project will feature Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla. He is currently bringing closer to the landmark by writing, shooting and writing again added the filmmaker that he aims to complete his 100th film by 2027.
Memoirs traces Priyadarshan’s life from his childhood
The screen writer to becoming one of India’s most prolific directors, Priyadarshan traces memories from his childhood and early day to his directorial debut Poochakkoru Mookkuthi in 1984. He will headline his 100th film with Mohanlal who will occupy a special mention and place in his final chapter. Mohanlal as the hero of his first film and therefore the filmmaker wanted to end the book with him. It is for the first time probably that Indian cinema has the same actor in the same hero of a director’s first and the 100th film.
The chronicle to Priyadarshan’s early start in films at the age of 19 as he worked as a ghostwriter and evolved to become an award-winning director with three National Film Awards. Beyond the story on his life, the book will also encounter and capture the moments with legends across the film industry from R D Burman, to Dev Anand to Rajesh Khanna, Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth to name a few, the book would make it a personal archive of four decades of Indian cinema.
