Actor R. Madhavan is honored with India’s highest civilian honors Padma Shri and being recognized for his contribution to the Indian cinema expressed in disbelief saying, ‘This is Beyond My Wildest Dreams’, reacting to the honor. The actor accepted the Padma Shri with profound gratitude and humility and said he is receiving it on behalf of his entire family, who have been his constant support and faith and his strength.
The actor reflected on his journey and the collective effort as he says is because of the blessings of his mentors , the good will that he has earned and his well-wishers, with their love and encouragement of the audience, and above all the grace of the Almighty that he has won this award. A humble expression that each of them played an invaluable role in shaping his journey and guiding him in the film industry. He further stated that he would carry this Award as an honor with dignity and sincerity with a deep sense of commitment for the value it represents. He stated his heart is filled with gratitude for this extra ordinary endorsement and the highest form of validation .
R Madhavan has been a celebrated name in the Indian Cinema. The handsome talented actor has built an illustrious career spanning across multiple language films including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He rose to fame in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam’s romantic dram Alai Payuthey in 2000 and made his Bollywood debut with the film Rehnaa hai Terre Dil Mein and thereafter has acted in many other Hindi films.
Madhavan was most recently seen in the blockbuster Dhurandhar starring alongside Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal directed by Aditya Dhar. A sequel of the same which is scheduled for its release on March 19th 2026.
The Padma Award for 2026 was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of the 77th Republic Day . R. Madhavan’s name featured alongside with other distinguished personalities from various categories such as Art, education , sports and other disciplines.
