Kajol stars in Maa as a grieving mom who challenges evil spirits to defend her child.  As seen in the official trailer, released today, Kajol’s warrior avatar is on full display, as she taps into Goddess Kali’s strength to fight a sinister curse haunting the village of Chandanpur.

Kajol’s fiercest avatar yet is terrifying, tender, and unstoppable.

Directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, Maa goes deep into the heart of maternal instinct, examining the lengths a mother will go to protect her child.  The film includes Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma in key roles. Growing out of the world of Shaitaan, the story brings an epic supernatural adventure together with an equally powerful internal story of family, survival and finding your way, resulting in a super thrilling but super emotional ride.

When the official trailer was released, it came attached with one brand new line, the movie’s tagline: “Rakshak.  We get Bakhshak.  MAA,” highlighting the contradiction of Kajol’s character being both mother and killer. The movie is currently scheduled for wide release in theaters on June 27, 2025, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali.
