Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore is at Cannes with her daughter Saba Pataudi. They will attend the screening of Satyajit Ray’s ‘Aranyer Din Ratri.’ The film’s screening is a part of the seventy-eighth edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Ma n Me… moments to cherish.'  Meanwhile, the Film Heritage Foundation had announced that a restored 4K version of the film titled ‘Aranyer Din  Ratri’ will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, 2025. Its cast includes Sharmila Tagore, Soumita Chatterjee and Rabi Ghosh in key roles.

While talking about restoring the film, the foundation’s director said, ‘Working on the restoration of Satyajit Ray’s ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ has been an incredible experience. Viewing the film’s beauty and artistry revitalises it after a huge time lapse of fifty-six years. Witnessing its haunting background music, the cast’s captivating chemistry, Sharmila Tagore’s unforgettable grace, and Satyajit Ray’s sensitive portrayal of the Santhal tribals has truly been a sheer privilege.  

The Cannes Film Festival began on 13th May and will end on 24th May.
