Gripping stories, captivating performances and thought provoking drama is something that has always worked in cinema. Producer Shailesh R. Singh who has brought forth stories like Tanu Weds Manu', 'Shahid', 'Aligarh', 'Madaari', among others is all set to bring another intriguing story to his audience. The film is titled Setu and is based on the courtroom drama around the 2004 sanctioning of the Samudram project and the interim judgment that was later passed on it in the year 2007.

Setu is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and the film deals with the helplessness of a man who is disappointed by the Indian state’s decision on the Sethusamudram Project. Speaking on the subject Shailesh said, “When this film first came to me, I was not really interested to produce it as there is already a film being made on the same subject. But when Vishal (director) narrated the idea to me in detail and his take on the subject, it really intrigued me massively! This film is beyond faith, truth and untruth for me.”

Director Vishal said, “For me the core of India lies in its culture, traditions, belief system and its ancient history. If you remove these things, India will be like any other country. When the 'Sethusamudram' project was announced in 2004, I was so deeply hurt that I started digging to find out the relevant facts.”

Setu will go on floors by end of 2022 and will release in 2023
