Mona Singh

Mona Singh was first seen in the very popular soap opera Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin in which Mona Singh as Jassi went on to be one of the most top stars of the television and had won the ITA Awards and one Filmfare OTT Award. 

Mona Singh also won in the first season of the reality series, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and played the role of Mona Chopra in the television series, Kya Huaaa Tera Vaada, Preet Singh in Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do and Parinidhi Bundela in Kavach Kaali Shaktiyon se.

She then had made her Bollywood debut as Kareena’s older sister in the film 3 Idiots which ranked as one of the highest grossing Indian films of all seasons.

Mona Singh earned praises for her role in Yeh Meri Family in 2018, Made in Heaven in 2023. She also won the Filmfare OTT Best Supporting Actress in the Drama Series. 

Jassi soon had become a household name and won accolades at Apsara Awards, Indian Telly Awards and Indian Television Academy Awards.

Mona Singh focused on nonfiction shows

In 2006 Mona hosted Femina Miss India and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 in 2006 followed by her participation and win in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2008. She had later teamed up with Ekta Kapoor’s banner Balaji Telefilms for four consecutive fiction show collaborations in NDTV’s Imagine. Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi. She was also cast as Raunak Makhija between 2008 and 2009. By returning to fiction shows, Mona Sing had entered in a contract with Sony Entertainment Television’s Kya Huaa Tera Vaada which was produced by Ekta Kapoor in 20121 . Mona as a wife whom her husband leaves and divorces with an extra marital affair. The show ended in 2013, after which Mona had taken a break from television.

Two years later Mona Singh had made a come back in October 2015 with Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do and it was her third consecutive show to be produced by Kapoor wherein as Preet Singh’s portrayal she had lost her parents. Later in 2016, she featured in Kapoor’s supernatural production Kavach Kaali Shaktiyon Se as Paridhi a married woman who attempts to protect her husband from his former lover who has turned into a sprit post her death to haunt the couple. She had then hosted the show Comedy Nights Bachao.

Mona Singh’s Web Series Career 

Mona Singh ventured in the web series in 2018 with her portrayal as Ananya in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai. That year she also starred in The Viral Fever and in a Netflix Series. Yeh Meri Family. In 2019 she was seen in ZEE 5 and in ALT Balaji series Mission Over Mars. She also appeared in Black Widows on ZEE5. 

In 2023, Mona Singh had appeared on Zoya Akhtar’s Made in Heaven as Bulbul Jauhari Singh. She received critical acclaim for her role. She had next appeared as a doctor in Netflix’s serial Kaala Pani.

Beginning of a film career. 

Mona Singh made her debut in Raj Kumar Hirani’s Hindi satirical comedy 3 Idiots which became one of the biggest hits and one of the highest grossing in Indian cinema. She had garnered praises for her role that was quite small but she had created an impact on the audience who remembered the Jassi girl. 

She next appeared in Utt Pataang, Zed Plus and Amvas. In 2022, she appeared in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha wherein she played the role of protagonist’s mother. Despite being 16 years younger than Khan, Singh was excellent in her role.

With the performance in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Mona Singh had already established herself as one of the leading ladies and in 2012 she had appeared in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list and ranked at 97th with an estimated annual income which is over Rs. 22.5 million.
