He then went on to star in two more action movies Road and Dum which further added to his repute building up his action hero image in Bollywood. In the meantime he also starred in Shaad Ali’s musical romantic drama Saathiya which was a huge turnaround as it brought out the glossy and likable side of his acting credentials and the movie panned out to be a huge hit in the year 2002 making him a bankable actor with a nomination for Best Actor at the Filmfare. The same year he was called upon by Auteur Mani Ratnam for the Hindi version of his bilingual political drama Yuva, where he reprised the original character played by Siddarth in the original Tamil version.Vivek was seen playing a callous carefree boy in love, who dreams to migrate to the US but is bent down by the political happening around him after a series of events. After playing the title role in Kisna: The Warrior Poet, Oberoi went on to be cast by Vishal Bharadwaj in his Hindi Film Omkara which is adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello, featuring an ensemble cast consisting of Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor among others.Vivek Oberoi was reprising the character “Cassio” from the original novel, and Oberoi was seen playing the role in a pitch perfect fashion and was widely appreciated for his matured and towering screen presence got him much accolades. Vivek Oberoi shares screen space next with Mallika Sherawat in the comic thriller movie Kismet Love Paise Dilli which underperformed and did him no good.
