Alok Nath was born on 10th July 1956 in Bihar State in Khagaria. He is an actor and a producer. He studied in Hindu College, Delhi University. He was an active part of the college theatre group as well as Ruchika theatre group. His parents wanted him to become a doctor but they let him pursue his dream to joining Humanities instead of Science for his love for the subject on Art, Drama and Culture. After graduating he joined National School of Drama in Delhi. In 1980 during the last year of NSD, Dolly Thakore went to NSD from Bombay in search of actors for the movie Gandhi.

Alok Nath married Ashu Singh in 1987 She was a production assistant for the very popular Television serial Buniyad. He has a daughter and a son.

Alok Nath made his debut in the film industry with the movie Gandhi in 1982. Later he did Kamagni as the lead actor. In 1984 he appeared in three movies, Aaj ki Aawaaz, Mashaal and Saaransh whereas in 1985 he featured in Apna Jahan and Faasle. In 1987, he did Zevar, Marte Dam Tak, Kacchi kali and Yeh Woh Manzil Toh Nahin. In 1988, he appeared in six movies, Agnee,Dayawan,Qayamat se Qayamat Tak,Kabzaa,Hamara Khandaan and Trishagni. In 1989, he appeared in the box office success Maine Pyar Kiya portraying father to the actress. Also he did Suryaa, Joshilay, Anjaan Rishte and Kasam Suhaag ki the same year. In the year 1990, he appeared in Agneepath, CID, Lekin, Dushman, Hatimtai and Shadyantra. Later in 1991 he appeared in Phool Bane Angaare, Aayi Milan Ki Raat, Khel, Pyar Bhara Dil, Jamai Raja and Vishnu Deva. In the year 1992, he featured in eleven movies including Tirangaa, Bol Radha Bol, Sapne Sajan Ke, Police Aur Mujrim, Naseebwala,Shola Aur Shabnam, Vishwatma, Meera Ka Mohan, Sahebzaada and Deewana. In 1993 he did Game, Anth, Antim Nyay, Divya Shakti, Tara, Sainik, Chor Aur Chaand, Shri Krishna Bhakt Narsi and Dil Hai Betaab. In 1994, he gained a fatherly image from the multistarrer film Hum Aapke Hai Koun. The same year, he also appeared in Eena Meena Deeka, Zamane se kya darna, Chauraha, Insaniyat, Kanoon, Laadla, Sangdil Sanam, Saajan Ka Ghar, Zaalim, Gangster and Mr. Asaad. In 1995, Ravan raaj, Gaddar, Hum Dono, Hathkadi, Kartavya, Sidhi and Ram shastra were the films ge featured in. The later year 1996, he appeared in Rakshak,Hahakar, Papa Kehte Hain, Vijeta, Ek Tha Raaja, Agni Sakshi, Mahir, Jeet and Zordar. In 1997, the movies featuring Alok Nath were Pardes, Ghoongat, Jeevan Yudh, Kaun Saccha Kaun Jhoota, Dil Kitna Nadaan hai and Insaaf The Final Justice whereas in 1998 he appeared in Hum Saath Saath Hain We Stand United, Kabhi Na Kabhi, Tirchi Topiwale, Vinashak and Bada Din. His movies in 1999 were Taal, Aa Ab Laut Chalein and Pyaar Koi Khel Nahi and in 2000 were Khiladi 420, Le Chal Apne Sang and Aaghaaz. In 2001, Alok Nath appeared in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Ek Rishta The Bond of Love, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain, Uljhan and Hum Deewane Pyaar ke. Buniyaad was a big milestone in his career. In1999 he appeared in Rishtey that aired till 2001.He also appeared in Kabhie Kabhie, Talaash, Tala ,Imtihaan, Astitva Ek Prem Kahaani, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Tu mere Agal Bagal hai, Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata hai, Wo Rehnewali Mehlo Ki, Ghar ek Sapna,Har Ghar Kuch Kehta hai, Bidaai, Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Do dil Bandhe Ek Dor se and Mere Rang Mein Rangnewali.
