Jiah Khan in a three film career gone on to establish her own niche in Bollywood. Jiah Khan has announced her arrival in Hindi cinema with the controversial flick Nishabd which created much fuzz at the time of release, she too took Bollywood critics and movie goers by surprise for her bold decision to play a seductive and dark character in film debut and the film made her well known in Bollywood circles and she was cited by many as the next big thing in Bollywood after appearing in two of the highest grossing Bollywood flicks like Ghajini and Housefull and incidentally was one of the few actresses to enter the prestigious 100Crore club , that too within three films which itself is rare feat.

Jiah Khan was born as the eldest daughter of three to a Muslim family, having a half Indian father and her mother being a famous Hindi actress. Khan’s family had an acting lineage by way of her paternal aunts Sangeetha and Kaveetha both of them working in Pakistani cinema. After her parents separation at an early age she went on to do her film and literature education from London after which she subsequently went on to New York to learn acting from famed Lee Strasberg Academy of Dramatic Arts which she shortly discontinued and moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in cinema and she was drawn in to cinema after watching Urmila Matondkar’s performance in 1995 Ram gopal film Rangeela, when she was only six years old. She had her first offer from Bollywood through Mahesh Bhatt for his film Tumsa Nahin Dekha in 2003 , where she was asked to appear as a strip dancer for which she considered herself too immature and decided to opt out against the offer thus making her debut in the same year with Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd.

Jaih Khan’s was found dead after committing suicide by hanging herself in her ceiling fan on June 3 of the year 2013 and the police subsequently found a eight letter suicide note addressed to her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi : son of actor’s Aditya Pancholi and Zerena Wahab. There were clear cut notions as to the reason behind the suicide being relationship frictions such as her being cheated, assaulted, unfairly kicked out of the relationship, a forced abortion and many other things by her boyfriend but later on there were medical reports about being the suicide being staged by someone and the case is still under investigation by the CBI.

Film debut and rise to prominence ( 2007- 2008) Jiah Khan made her Bollywood entry with ac director Ram Gopal Varma’s drama flick Nishabd, where she shared screen with Stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Revathi. The flick which dealt with the theme of infidelity saw Khan playing a girl who ends up attracting her friend’s father in the course of her vacation. Khan came immediately under the limelight with a highly matured and awe inspiring performance which led her to her very first Award in the form of a nomination for Best Female Debut at Filmfare Awards in the year 2007 and Khan was successful in winning tremendous critical reviews for her subtle conception of the psychological nuances underplaying the seductiveness and grittiness of the would becontroversial character although the movie emerged a major let-down at the box office owing to the sensitive topic under discussion. Jiah Khan next appeared in Ghajini, for which ace director A.R Murugadoss wielded the megaphone with Aamir Khan playing the lead along with Asin. The psychological thriller saw Jiah Khan playing a nosy medical student who sets out on the path to study Aamir Khan’s character who suffers from an abnormal medical condition of “Anterograde Amnesia” which leads him to forget things after each fifteen minutes and the rest of the movie deals with her investigation into the life of Aamir Khan which bring forth shocking revelation of his past life. The movie kept up her repute as she was seen breathing life into the side-lined sketchy character making it appear exquisite in her screen time with Aamir Khan and the movie was one of the biggest grossers of Bollywood and received good reviews. Final film ( 2010) After a two year gap post Ghajini, in the initial months of the year 2010 Khan was selected to co-star with Shahid Kapoor in the dance drama film Chance Pe Dance, but halfway through the on-going shoot the director called her off from the female lead part after alleged inclination towards the co-star Shahid Kapoor but post release she was seen blaming the director for her unexpected exit from the project citing it to be misbehaviour from his side which led to the decision. She then went on to do her final film in the mid 2010 with Sajid Khan’s ensemble comedy Housefull which boast of a star cast consisting of Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta in the lead. The comedy of errors flick had her playing Akshay Kumar’s wife who leaves him to elope with her boyfriend which led to the main plot points of the narrative. Jiah Khan was seen coming up with a decent and well-seasoned portrayal of the character which required nothing spectacular from her part but the movie failed to fetch positive reviews however became a hug hit which insipid two sequels in the future. But she signed no more films after completing Housefull in 2010 she was inactive in Bollywood for three years and one fine morning found to have committed suicide in the year 2013 under mysterious circumstances.
