Abhik Bhanu is an Indian author and filmmaker who believes a story is the foundation of life. He’s a published author, with his books including Honcho (PageTurner USA, November 5, 2020), A Dark Rainbow (2013), Stool Pigeon (2018; awarded Best Book of the Year Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards May 11, 2019), Blind Faith (2019), and Mahatma After 150 Years (Notion Press, 2021). He’s academically based in Allahabad University and Symbiosis College, Pune, as well as interning at the Film & Television Institute of India in Pune As director and producer under his Sarayu Vision label, Bhanu has directed feature films inspired by Gandhi, including Sab Kuch Hai Kuch Bhi Nahi (worldwide release April 15 2005), Dark Rainbow (August 8 2014), Gun Pe Done (April 12, 2019), and the historical drama 1922 Pratikar Chauri Chaura (India premiere June 30, 2023; USA/UK August 4, 2023). His socially relevant short film Astitva, based on female feticide, received accolades during a senior doctors’ conference in Panchgani, and from ex-Home Minister Shivraj Patil, while Be the Change – with Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Rajmohan Gandhi was supported by PCGT Mumbai, under the leadership of Julio Ribeiro. Bhanu won Best Director at the Konark Film Festival for A Nice Cute Guy, and is currently developing international projects including A Pencil in God’s Hand (on Mother Teresa), Taj, and series including XPG (Honcho), Lutyens Delhi, ABCC, Ringmaster, and X TOKIYO, showcasing his continued ability to fuse narrative depth with cinematic innovation.
