Inspector Shekhar is a diligent and honest cop living a middle class life with his wife and two sons Suraj and Ganga. He is out to nab dacoit Vikram, who thinks he is invincible. One day Vikram kidnaps Shekhar’s son Suraj while his own daughter Sarita is brought up by Shekhar. They all grow up in different environments. Ganga becomes a cops just like his dad and Sarita is a lively happy-go-lucky girl. Suraj who is taken by Vikram is taught to be a dacoit like him. He falls in love with Sarita. Soon the brothers come face to face as circumstances bring them together. Little do they know the blood relationship that they share.
The film is directed by A Salaam and produced by N A Suresh. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The star cast includes Sunil Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Reena Roy, Sulakshana Pandit, Aruna Irani, Keshto Mukherji, Sures, Kader Khan, Iftekhar, Bhagwan and Chand Usmani.
