Ganga, played by Govinda is a simple, naïve and honest man living in a small village with his parents. He is in love with Saawni, played by Sonali Bendre. Just when Ganga and Saawni decide to marry, his parents break a shocking news to him that they are his foster parents and his biological parents are in the city and want him to come back to them. A heartbroken and sad Ganga, bids his foster parents goodbye and comes to the city. He struggles to fit into the modern lifestyle of his wealthy biological parents. Meanwhile his sister-in-law who is disgusted by Ganga’s unruly village behavior, dislikes him more and more each passing day.

 

However things take a drastic turn when Ganga is asked to marry a socialite named Tina, played by Rinke Khanna and he agrees. However one day he saves his brother’s life from goons but sadly his close friend gets stabbed. The police arrest him for the assault but Ganga remains tight lipped as he doesn’t not want his family’s reputation to be questioned. At this point his sister-in-law comes to his rescue and proves his innocence. Eventually Ganga goes back to his comfortable life in the village and marries Saawni.

 

The movie is written and directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Shroff. The music is composed by Anand Raj Anand.
