Omorshongi (“Immortal Companion”) is a 2025 Bengali supernatural romantic comedy marking the directorial debut of Dibya Chatterjee, who also co-writes the film with Aritra Sengupta.
Produced by Avinaba Ghosh, Paridhi Khaitan, and Arnab Pal under Dreams On Sale Productions and Handykraft Pictures, the film stars Vikram Chatterjee and Sohini Sarkar in their first collaboration, supported by Dibyasha Das, Shreema Bhattacherjee, and Aniruddha Gupta.
The story follows a grief-stricken novelist who is unable to move past the death of his beloved girlfriend. His life takes an unexpected turn when her ghost suddenly appears—playful, persistent, and still deeply connected to him. Instead of haunting him, she pushes him toward healing, urging him to live again, love again, and confront the fears and emotional paralysis that have held him back.
As the line between the living and the afterlife blurs, the film blends humour with heartfelt emotion. The ghost’s presence sparks a series of amusing, awkward, and transformative moments as she tries to help him embrace his future while making peace with their shared past.
Shot between August 2023 and April 2024 by cinematographer Abhimanyu Sengupta and edited by Amir Mondal, Omorshongi released on 31 January 2025, receiving mixed reviews from critics but warm, positive responses from audiences, who resonated with its charm, imagination, and emotional core.
