Raja Babu is adopted as a child by a wealthy family in the village. He is however uncouth and lacks basic etiquettes living in a village. His mother doesn’t seem to mind it and loves him to bits. She pampers him in every way possible. One day when he is as usual taking his photos in a studio, he happens to see the picture of a beautiful girl named Madhu and falls in love with her. She soon reciprocates his love and thinks he is educated and classy like her but she is wrong. One the engagement day she humiliates Raja and his parents for fooling her into marrying a crude personality like him.
Raja swears to marry only Madhu and does everything to woo her affection. However seeing how the humiliation has affected his father he forgets Madhu and decides to marry the girl his father chooses instead. Soon Madhu realizes that she has fallen in love with Raja and tries to pursue him but he ignores her. Soon his evil uncle plans to destroy his parents and kill them. Raja risks his own life and saves them. Thus they decide to get him married to Madhu.
The movie is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Nandu G Tolani. The music is composed by Anand Milind and Aruna and the lyrics are written by Sameer. The story and screenplay is written by K Bhagyaraj. The dialogues are written by Anees Bazmee. The star cast includes Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Kader Khan, Prem Chopra, Gulshan Grover, Yunus Pervez, Sameer Khakhar and Beena Banerjee.
