Sangam a 1964 romantic film directed by Raj Kapoor is written by Inder Raj Anand and produced by Raj Kapoor and Mehboob Studios and Filmistan.  Starring in the film are Raj Kapoor, Vjyantimala and Rajendra Kumar in the lead roles along with Iftekhar, Raj Mehra, Nana Palsikar, Lalita Pawar, Achala Sachdev and Hari Shivdasani in the supporting roles. A film inspired from the Hollywood movie, Gone with the Wind

Became a hit film with the scenes shot in Venice, Paris and Switzerland with good music, this film also set the trend of using foreign locales for their outdoor shooting.

The story is a love triangle, with Sunder (Raj Kapoor), Radha (Vyjantimala) and Gopal (Rajendra Kumar) Sunder who is an obsessive romantic lover is attracted to Radha but Radha has silently preferred Gopal.   Sunder enrolls himself in the Indian Air force and has to leave to carry out a risky operation in which he is feared dead.   Gopal who is also in love with gets closer to Radha as she has been the only woman in his heart, but his undying friendship comes in the way when Sunder returns to get married to Radha.  Their marital bliss is however shattered when Sunder finds out that his wife is drawn to another man and does not realize it’s his best friend Gopal.    Gopal once more steps back into the shadows when he kills himself when he sees no solution to the love triangle that has almost destroyed their beautiful friendship.   Radha and Sunder are reunited while mourning for their dear friend Gopal.
