Toofan is 1989 a superhero film directed by Ketan Desai starring Amitabh Bachchan in a double role. Produced by Manmohan Desai the film involves around twin brothers, both characters were played by Amitabh Bachchan one that of a superhero with super powers and the other as a magician.
Story of twin brothers(Toofan and Shyam) are both separated at birth by their father, who was a police inspector.
Hanuman Prasad Singh who lived with his magician friend Ramesh Kumar. Both their wives deliver around the same time. Hanuman Prasad Singh’s wife gives birth to twins , passes away in child birth, where as Ramesh Kumar’s wife Devyani loses her child during birth. In a state of shock of losing her child, Hanuman Prasad Singh decides to give one of the motherless twin son to Devyani and Ramesh Kumar.
Ramesh Kumar while performing a magic stunt dies leaving the child and his wife . The child grows up to be Shyamu(Amitabh Bachchan) the magician just like his foster father Ramesh Kumar. On the other hand Toofan( Amitabh Bachchan) grows up to become the police inspector.
Once Hanuman Prasad Singh is falsely implicated by a corrupt Assistant Commisioner for stealing a huge number of gold bars. While Hanuman Singh tries to prove his innocence he is killed by the culprits. Toofan gets on to the mission to clear his father’s name and retrieve the stolen gold from the culprits and in the process bumps into the magician Shyamu.
