Kusha Kapila has found herself in the eye of a media storm, especially since her recent split from Zorawar Ahluwalia, her spouse of six years. The aftermath was a whirlwind of online trolling and character assassination. Zorawar came to her defence, condemning the public vilification and labelling it as "shameful."

Adding more spice to the rumour mill, a snapshot from a Karan Johar bash set tongues wagging about a potential love story blossoming between Kusha and Arjun Kapoor. The digital sensation promptly quashed the gossip via an Instagram Broadcast. Now, as she prepares for the launch of her new film Sukhee, co-starring Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Kusha exclusively opens up about the challenges of public perception and her strategy for handling the chatter.

Kusha Kapila Dishes on the Struggles of Being a 'People Pleaser' Amid Public Scrutiny: "It's Time to Let Go and Live Life on My Own Terms"

In a candid revelation, Kusha Kapila makes it clear that controlling public opinion is an exercise in futility. "You can't mastermind your own narrative or how people feel about you, especially when you're in the spotlight," she firmly states.

But that won't deter her from living life as she chooses, unfazed by the fear of public judgment. "Why carry the emotional baggage of societal expectations? I don't want to look back at 50 and regret not having lived my life to the fullest," Kusha asserts.

While admitting her natural tendency as a 'people pleaser,' Kusha acknowledges the emotional toll it takes. She's actively striving for a Zen state, aiming to remain unaffected by public opinion. "As a Virgo who's hardwired to micromanage and please others, I realize the need to loosen up. I'm always caught up thinking about a million things, but it's time to focus on being happy and present," says Kusha, who's also set to appear in the upcoming film, 'Thank You For Coming.'

Speaking about her upcoming film, Sukhee, Kusha Kapila says it tackles the all-too-familiar struggle women face when combating societal expectations. "When I read the Sukhee script, my immediate thought was, 'My mom is going to feel seen by this film!' It dives into the challenges women undergo, losing themselves while trying to fit into roles others have imagined for them."

Showering praise on her co-star, she adds, "Shilpa ma'am infuses her role with an authenticity and warmth that's impossible not to admire. Like many women, particularly those juggling homes and careers from our mothers' generation, she portrays a character on a journey of self-discovery, unaware of how swiftly life is passing by."
