After the massive success of his film ‘Jaat,’, the actor Randeep Hooda has acquired the film rights to ‘Operation Khukri.’





As per a report by Variety, the actor Randeep Hooda has officially acquired the film rights to ‘Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacemaking Mission Abroad’ by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia.


Randeep Hooda’s Role In ‘Operation Khukri’


In the upcoming film, ‘Operation Khukri,’ the actor will play Major General Raj Pal Punia. The Major Punia had experienced tense standoffs and extraordinary rescues during the challenging war conditions.


The mission began as a peacekeeping effort but  escalated into a seventy-five-day standoff. The Indian contingent  was surrounded without enough supplies in Kailahun’s hostile terrains.


The production houses, such as Rahul Mittra Films and Randeep Hooda Filma have secured the film’s rights. While these rights are for the Penguin Random House bestseller about Major General Punia’s firsthand experience managing the operation.    


About Operation Khukri


This upcoming film titled ‘Operation Khukri’ deeply focuses on the real-life events of the year 2000, wherein rebel forces in Sierra Leone, South Africa, took two hundred and thirty-three soldiers hostage. Its plot follows the high-stakes rescue mission that followed the soldiers’ hostage.   


 Moreover, the makers haven’t announced the film’s release date.
