Everyone knows that Uttam Kumar could sing beautifully. In fact, he even taught singing at a school in South Kolkata in his early life. But did you know that there is a Bengali film in which the hero sang seven songs himself!

Uttam Kumar's Singing Voice Was Heard In This FIlm 

In December 24, 1956, Uttam Kumar and Sabitri Chatterjee's film 'Navajanma' was released. It was directed by Debaki Kumar Basu. The music director of the film was Nachiketa Ghosh. Uttam sang 7 kirtans in this film.

It is said that music director Nachiketa Ghosh was looking for a singer to sing the right kirtan for this film. That news reached Uttam. Uttam had said that, along with acting, he would sing the songs of this film. This would also improve his acting. Nachiketa Ghosh got to know on the first day of recording that Uttam was singing the kirtan perfectly. And that is why Nachiketa got Uttam to sing not one, but all seven kirtans of this film.

However, although the songs sung by Uttam were used in the film, they were not kept on the record. However, this is the only Bengali film where Uttam Kumar's singing voice was heard.
