Parineeti considered the PR consultant job at the Yash Raj Production company as a perfect job. She had a strong dislike of the acting career until she saw her sister, Priyanka Chopra preparing for her role in 7 (Saath) Khoon Maaf which changed Parineeti’s perception towards the film industry and the acting career. The respect for the film industry grew from Parineeti’s side once she started learning more about filmmaking. Chopra decided to resign from her job and start attending an acting school as during the promotions of Band Baaja Baaraat, she realised she wanted to become an actress. Aditya Chopra, the then vice president of Yash Raj Films suggested Parineeti by the director Maneesh Sharma but he refused to sign in someone from the office work of the production company. Maneesh had advised Parineeti to go to the casting director of the company when she told him she was going to attend an acting school. Little did Parineeti know, the lines she delivered fooling around the camera of the character Geet from Jab We Met would get her into a three-film deal once Aditya Chopra watched it and was impressed by her acting skills without actually attending any acting school and learning. Parineeti made her acting debut in the romantic comedy Ladies vs Ricky Bahl as a supporting actress with Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma in 2011 in which she played the role of a Delhi-based rich spoiled brat Dimple Chadda and impressed everyone with her bubbly girl avatar. Chopra also won the Apsara and IIFA awards for the best supporting role female. Her second movie but the first as a lead actress was Habib Faisal’s Ishaqzaade in which she was paired opposite Arjun Kapoor she played the role of Zoya a rebellious girl who falls in love with a Hindu boy who gets married to him which was a super hit at the box office. Chopra received a National Award for this movie and also a nomination for the best actress at Filmfare, Screen and Apsara awards. Her next movie was her second collaboration with Maneesh Sharma opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Shuddh Desi Romance which also cast newcomer Vaani Kapoor. She played the role of Gayatri who had a carefree attitude towards everything. She got several nominations for the best actress for this movie. Chopra’s first movie outside the Yash Raj banner was Dharma Production’s Hasee Toh Phasee which was jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar in which she played the role of a psycho scientist opposite Sidharth Malhotra along with Adah Sharma. The film was a moderate success and received positive reviews from the critics. Her second collaboration with Habib Faisal was the romantic comedy dowry-based Daawat e Ishq in which she played the role of a middle-class girl Gulrez along with Aditya Roy Kapur and Anupam Kher. Her next film was Shaad Ali’s crime-based Kill Dil with Govinda, Ranveer Singh and Ali Zafar. Both Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil failed terribly at the box office. She also did a cameo as Muskaan in Dishoom which cast Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez. Parineeti’s upcoming movie is Meri Pyaari Bindu which is a story of an aspiring singer opposite Ayushmann Khurrana directed by debutant director Akshay Roy of the Yash Raj banner as a romantic comedy. She will be making her singing debut in the film industry through this film. She has also signed Homi Adajania’s Takadum which she's cast opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
