Sai Pallavi is from Badaga family in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. Her home town is in Kotagiri in the Nilgiris District in Tamil Nadu.   Sai Pallavi is born to Senthamarai Kannan and Radha. She has a younger sister named Pooja Kannan who is also an actress. 

Sai has won several Awards for her roles in over 11 films spanning from 2016 to 2024 including few films that she has signed in 2025. Sai Pallavi will soon be seen in Hindi films, Ek Din in which she is starring opposite Junaid Khan. She will portray Rama opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Nitish Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of the famous Ramayana.

Sai Pallavi is recognized as one of the finest actresses in South Indian Cinema. She is known for her portrayals of a strong women centric roles for which she has received many accolades. Her awards included that of six Filmfare Awards South, SIIMA Awards. Sai Pallavi happens to be one of the highest paid South Indian actresses. Sai featured in Forbes magazine as one of the leading India’s South Actress for 30 under 30 category in the year 2020.

Pallavi started her acting journey with Malar in 2015, a Malayalam film Premam. She was launched in the South Cinema in 2017. After which she never had to look back and she only step by step achieved success with films one after another. She ventured into Telugu films as well from Malayalam and won the Best Actress Filmfare Awards in Telugu.

Since 2016, Sai Pallavi starred in 2016 film Kali, Middle Class Abbavi in 2017, Maari 2 in 2018, Paava Kadhaigal in 2020, Love Story in 2021, Shyam Singha Roy in 2021, Gargi in 2022, Amaran in 2024 and Thandel in 2025. Her performance in the film Gargi and in Love Story won her the Film Fare Award for the Best Actress in Tamil and Telugu respectively. She also gained the Filmfare Critics Award for the Best Actress in Telugu film.

While Sai Pallavi was staying in Tbilisi in Georgia, the film director Alphonso Puthren approached her with the script for Premam. He was impressed watching her in a reality show six years ago and had instantly offered her the role which she had to refuse as she mistook him for a stalker. When his identify was confirmed, she had agreed to star in his film Premam in the role of Malar. She did her shooting during her holiday breaks and after completing the shooting schedule she went back to study.

As a debut actress, Sai won many Filmfare Awards for the Best Female Debut. Thereafter Sai Pallavi went on to be a very successful film actress in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam Films. A known face in the film circle. She also was in a Kannada and a Marathi project wherein she portrays as a young wife who must deal with extreme anger issues with her husband on screen.
