The movie which told the story of unrecognized love blossoming between two friends had her playing an over the top fun loving character and she shone right through with her callous portrayal of the part and was praised for her befitting mannerisms. The blockbuster success of the movie was followed up by her debut in Tamil cinema with ace director S Sankar’s coming of age comedy film Boys which had her pairing with actor Siddarth on is debut too among a host of other newcomers. The super hit bilingual movie had her yet again sporting a modern outlook with a more matured mind-set, the film’s success also resulted in her instant popularity in South India. Her third release was the Telegu blockbuster romantic movie Satyam which too fared well and got her positive reviews. She followed suit with an array of successful movies in different languages starting with her return to Bollywood with Indra Kumar’s blockbuster adult comedy flick Masti, which had her opposite Riteish Deshmukh and other actors like Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and many more. She was seen playing the dominating wife and had come up with a stunning effort undoubdetly the best among the lot. She continued the good run with two back to back successes in Telugu movies Samba and S.S Rajamouli’s sports drama flick Sye in the same year 2004. Genelia then went on to play a leading role in Vijay’s Tamil romcom Sachein which got her much positive critical reception.
