Ravi Gupta, played by Sanjay Dutt is born in a poor family who has always struggled. His father couldn’t afford to send him to a good school thus he studied at a municipal school. He then married Saru, played by Amisha Patel and they have a healthy baby boy who they name Gaurav. Gaurav one day faints while playing his favorite sport of cricket. They take him to a close by hospital where the doctors tell them Gaurav will not survive without a heart transplant. The cost of the surgery will be Rs 15 Lakhs and only be done on receipt of the money. Desperate Ravi goes to his employer who can only give Rs 75,000.
He later decides to take a gun and holds 30 people hostage at the hospital till his son’s operation is done. People then see how good a human being Ravi is when in spite of his problems he is still helping other people in the hospital. Later A man comes and tell him that the President has allowed for the surgery to take place and no expense will be incurred to Ravi. But later it is revealed to be a political hoax. The surgery is finally done and Gaurav is hail and hearty and Ravi is sentenced to only 6 months in prison.
The movie is directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Nitin Manmohan. The music is composed by Vishal-Shekhar.
