Vikram, played by Farhan Akhtar comes to Mumbai to become a Bollywood actor taking some help from his friend Abhimanyu and Sameer. He tries his luck at various auditions but doesn’t manage to get any substantial role. He also befriends a neighbor of Abhimanyu, Sona, played by Konkana Sen Sharma, who is also a struggling actress. He is then invited to a Bollywood Party by Sameer and meets actress Neena and her daughter Nikki. There he praises Neena a lot and he seems to have made a mark on her memory.
He gets selected for an audition for a new film with Nikki and in instantly a star. However, Sona and Viram have started dating and she is yet to make it big in Bollywood. He doesn’t realize that it was Sona who circulated his pictures around. Meanwhile, Nikki and Vikram start flirting and is seen by one of Sona’s friends on the set and tells her. Seeing a changed attitude after stardom and also cheating, Sona decides to break up with him.
The movie is directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
