Sonu Sood is a very popular actor not only in Bollywood but also in Tollywood. He has worked with Nagarjuna and is a popular actor in Telugu films. Following his success in Tollywood, he played the role of Rajkumar Sujamal in the epic film Jodha Akbar directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Thereafter he continued his career in Telugu films and did his Kannada debut in 2011. The same year he was also appointed as the State Icon of Punjab.
In 2009 Sonu received the Andhra Pradesh State Award, and Nandi Award for the Best Villain and Best Supporting Actor for his Telugu blockbuster film Arundhati.
In April 2022, Sonu Sood hosted the reality show MTV Roadies in South Africa. He garnered the Apsara Award for Best Actor. He also received the IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role in the film Dabangg. In 2012 Sonu Sood received the SIIMA Award for the Best Actor in a Negative Role in a Telugu film Julayi.

Philanthropy:
Sonu Sood established his production house Shakti Sagar Productions in the year 2016, named after his father Shakti Sagar Sood. In 2020 Sonu Sood received an Award called the ‘ SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award’ by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for his humanitarian Works. Sood is known for his humanitarian work during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He also started his foundation called the Sood Charity Foundation to help people and took the initiative to provide free coaching for the UPSC examination and education for the underprivileged with financial problems. Sood was given the title as Desh Ke Mentor by the Delhi Government for being the Brand Ambassador and Awarded by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in August 2021.
Sonu Sood has floated his flagship campaigns of the Sood Charity Foundation. This foundation takes care of the Law entrance coaching program which assists people with academic guidance to them and for the CLAT and AILET exam preparation. His ideas were to focus on the less privileged deserving candidates and Law Schools. He also has a tie-up with the Global Health Physician Dr Edmond Fernandes. He has done a lot of service to humanity in the train accident in Odisha’s Balasore which resulted in the death of 250 people and left 1000 people injured. Sonu has also launched a helpline for Odisha’s Train Accident Victims and has set up a relief fund.
During the nationwide lockdown in Covid 19 Pandemic, Sood went all out to help thousands of stranded migrant workers returning home, arranging food, buses, special trains and chartered flights for them. In July 2020 he helped 1500 Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan by flying them from Bishkek to Varanasi. His contribution during Covid was lauded and he was hailed as a relief real-life hero in India.
