Zarina Wahab

Zarina Wahab was best known for her roles of the village belle, in Chitchor and also for her Malayalam film Gopal Krishna. She did more films like Madanolsayam, Chamaram, Palangal and Adaminte Makan Abu.

Zarina Wahab had worked on herself after she had received negative feedback about herself from the veteran film producer director Raj Kapoor. She eventually got noticed and was cast in films. She usually suited the best for the roles of middle-class girls or the girl next door kinds and landed herself in the lead in the Basu Chatterjee’s Chit Chor opposite Amol Palekar in 1976.

She also acted in films like Agar, Jazbaat, Sawan Ko Aane Do and Raees Zada. Zarina Wahab was nominated for a Filmfare Award in the Best Actress category for Ghoronda released in 1977. Zarina Wahab has acted in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films besides Hindi. Zarina made her comeback with Malayalam films with Calendar in 2009. She continued to act in Malayalam films for some time.

She appeared in the film My name is Khan as a mother of Rizwan Khan essayed by superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Wahab now is mostly seen in television serials playing the older roles.

Zarina Wahab starred in the realistic social crime drama film, The Narmada Story which theatrically released on June 11th 2026. She also recently starred in the comedy drama Rajni Ki Baraat which was released earlier this year. Her other projects are multilingual, ‘ The RajaSaab’ and ‘Gandhi Talks’.
